Great! You have made up your mind and you decided that you’d love to travel to Morocco! Great choice my friend! But… what comes next?
Worry no more! I’ll walk you through the steps on how I organized my trip 🙂
Genial! Acabas de decidir que quieres ir a Marruecos! Me parece una idea genial! Pero… qué tengo que hacer ahora?
No te preocupes! Te voy a explicar paso por paso cómo organicé mi viaje 🙂
Where do we fly to?
Since my girlfriend Gi was flying from Milano-Bergamo and I was flying from Madrid we had to find an airport that would suit us:
· Similar arrival flights.
· Similar departure flights.
· Similar prices of the tickets.
We saw that nowadays (May 2016) Ryanair flies to 8 airports in Morocco. So, after talking to some friends and deciding which city we wanted to make our base we decided to fly to Marrakech.
¿A dónde volamos?
Como mi novia Gi volaba desde Milán-Bérgamo y yo tenía que volar desde Madrid tuvimos que buscar un aeropuerto que se adaptara a nuestras necesidades:
· Vuelos de llegada similares.
· Vuelos de salida similares.
· Precio de los billetes similares.
Vimos que hoy en día (Mayo 2016) Ryanair vuela a 8 aeropuertos en Marruecos. Así que, después de hablar con varios amigos y decidir qué ciudad sería nuestra base decidimos volar a Marrakech.
Visa, vaccines, travel insurance…?
1. Visa: Because both of us have an European Passport, we could enter the country with a Visa on arrival (for free) and stay up to 90 days. Nevertheless, here’s a very useful website where you can check wether you need visa or not.
2. Vaccines: It’s very useful to get the Hepatitis A and the Thyphoid fever vaccines. Here’s the link to the CDC website where they tell you more about it. Never trust blogs when they give you information about vaccines, call the vaccination centres of your country or city, they will inform you better. Me I’m just trying to orientate you. 🙂
3. Insurance: We didn’t book a travel insurance. It was not a really smart move. There are plenty of companies that have great services, and, having in mind that you are going to be traveling to a foreign country, it’s always useful to have an insurance.
¿Visado, vacunas, seguro…?
1. Visado: Como nosotros dos tenemos un Pasaporte Europeo, pudimos entrar en el país con una Visa on arrival (gratis) y quedarnos hasta 90 días. Sin embargo, aquí tienes una web muy útil donde puedes echar un vistazo y comprobar si necesitas visado o no.
2. Vacunas: Es muy útil vacunarse de la Hepatitis A y la Fiebre tifoidea. Aquí hay un enlace al Ministerio de Sanidad donde te pueden informar mejor. Nunca confíes en los blogs cuando te informen sobre vacunas, llama a los centros de vacunación de tu país o ciudad, ellos te informarán mejor. Yo sólo intento orientarte. 🙂
3. Seguro: Nosotros no contratamos ningún seguro de viajes. No fue algo demasiado inteligente. Hay varias compañías que tienen servicios excelentes, y, teniendo en cuenta que vas a viajar a un país extranjero, tienes que saber que siempre es útil tener un seguro de viajes.
Where to sleep?
Gi is a TripAdvisor master. She knows that website. So she started looking for options on where to stay. I am more of a LonelyPlanet guy, so we bought one travel guide and started researching for our place of stay. Finally we stayed in a couple of Riads:

And plus one night in the Sahara Desert.
¿Dónde dormir?
Gi es una experta de TripAdvisor. Realmente sabe cómo utilizar esa web. Así que ella empezó a mirar y a valorar opciones sobre dónde podíamos dormir. Yo soy mas un chico LonelyPlanet así que nos compramos una guía de viaje y empezamos a investigar. Al final nos quedamos en dos Riads:
· Riad Dar Soukaina que se encuentra aquí.
· Riad Star que se encuentra aquí.
Y una noche más en el Desierto del Sáhara.

What to do?
Since it could take an entire blog only to talk about what to do in Morocco, I’ll talk in the future about this. Just let me tell you that we went to Marrakech, Zagora, Ouarzazate, Aït Benhaddou, Essaouira and some smaller cities that we stopped on the way! 🙂

Como tendría que dedicar un blog entero para hablar de qué hacer en Marruecos, ya hablaré en el futuro con más detalle sobre ésto. Déjame que te diga que nosotros fuimos a Marrakech, Zagora, Uarzazat, Ait Ben Hadu, Esauira y otras ciudades más pequeñas en las que nos paramos por el camino! 🙂
